Synopsis Of The Article

In honour of World Intellectual Property Day, Swarnim Startup and Innovation University hosted a unique event that combined education, creativity, and inspiration. Forty-five enthusiastic faculty members who are keen to deepen their understanding of Intellectual Property (IP) and its importance in both academic and personal development attended the event on Saturday on the university campus.

An expert-led session on the theme “Empowering Innovation in Academia: Leveraging IP for Institutional and Individual Growth” led by the distinguished Dr. Preeti Chothani was the celebration’s high point.

Dr. Chothani immediately grabbed everyone’s attention by using straightforward language to convey the fundamental ideas of IP. She talked about the various kinds of intellectual property rights (IPRs), such as patents, copyrights, trademarks, and designs, and she underlined the significance of safeguarding creative works in the cutthroat world of today.

She also discussed how India is promoting more inventions and patent applications, as well as the country’s changing intellectual property environment. Universities and other academic institutions, in her opinion, are essential in creating an atmosphere in which concepts can be safeguarded and developed into significant inventions. According to Dr. Chothani, a robust intellectual property strategy can improve an institution’s standing and open up new doors for both students and professors.

She outlined doable actions that academics may take to safeguard their research, innovations, and inventions throughout the session. From knowing the filing procedure to preserving ownership rights, she provided a wealth of helpful advice and best practices.

Particularly when Dr. Chothani presented actual cases of how intellectual property may serve as a driving force for advancement in both individual and institutional careers, the audience exhibited intense attention. She also discussed typical difficulties in managing intellectual property portfolios and offered clever solutions.

The notion that innovation and intellectual property protection must coexist was one of the main lessons to be learnt from her presentation. “You run the risk of losing the benefits to others if you innovate without protecting your ideas,” she said.

Many insightful questions from the faculty members were raised during an engaging Q&A period following the seminar. Every question was thoughtfully addressed by Dr. Chothani, which increased the session’s value for all participants.

As a sincere thank you for sharing her knowledge and time, Dr. Amita Peters, Principal of Arihant Homoeopathic Medical College & Research Institute, sent Dr. Chothani a lovely souvenir.

Mr. Jiten Thakkar, Incubation Manager at Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University, concluded the event by thanking all of the faculty members for their enthusiastic involvement and expressing gratitude to Dr. Chothani for her motivational presentation. He emphasised that these kinds of meetings not only raise awareness but also foster an innovative culture at the university.

Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University is demonstrating its dedication to creating a thriving ecosystem where knowledge, creativity, and innovation coexist by organising such significant events.
