Jos Buttler equals Virat Kohli’s Record
Rajasthan Royals’ destructive opener Jos Buttler hit his fourth century of the IPL 2022 on Friday, leading his team to a seven-wicket triumph over Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Narendra Modi Stadium. With this century, the England batter equaled the IPL record for most hundreds scored in a single season. Former RCB captain Virat Kohli holds the record, having hammered four centuries in 2016 season.
In 2016, Kohli held the record for the most hundreds of four centuries. In the same year, he amassed 973 runs, the most by any player in the IPL’s history. Buttler, for example, has scored an incredible total of 824 runs at an average of 58.86 and a strike rate of 151.47 in IPL 2022 so far. He has also scored four half-centuries.
Great knocks by Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal, followed by a cameo from Sanju Samson, helped RR chase down the goal of 158 runs in only 18.1 overs. RCB were reduced to 157/8 when Prasidh Krishna and Obed McCoy both took three wickets.
Buttler also became the third player in the IPL’s history to score over 800 runs in a single season. In 2016, Kohli scored 973 runs in the tournament. Warner scored 848 runs for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2018. (SRH). So far in the IPL 2022, Buttler has scored 824 runs. He simply needs 25 runs to pass Warner as the second-highest run-getter in IPL history.
