Newz Daddy Cricket Updates

As usual, we’ll be talking about the IPL auction today, November 7, going over everything from A to Z with ten key updates on the impending big auction. For all the most recent IPL developments.

Date and Specifics of the Auction

Originally scheduled for December 15, the auction date has been pushed earlier, according to Cricbuzz. From November 24 to November 25, the IPL Mega Auction will now be held across two days. After the player retention process, the BCCI swiftly finalised these dates with just 17–18 days remaining for the auction. Official IPL and BCCI sources have verified this massive event.

Time of the Auction

The time frame for the auction is 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. In contrast to earlier auctions that frequently began in the morning, this one will take place in the afternoon, at approximately 1:30 PM.

Location of the Auction

After much deliberation, the auction will eventually take place in the Al Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The Coca-Cola Arena in the United Arab Emirates served as the venue for the previous auction. Despite some discussion of holding it in Riyadh, the BCCI ultimately chose Jeddah because of its superior international transport connectivity. Although it is not feasible to conduct the IPL there, the Saudi government has shown a strong desire to host IPL activities. By staging the auction, they hope to increase travel to the area.

The auction will be live across Jio platforms and you can also watch on Star Sports on TV

Teams’ Available Slots

Each team has a maximum of 25 places prior to retention, with a cap of 8 foreign players. Ten teams now have 204 available seats, meaning that 204 players can be chosen in this auction.

Registered Players

1,165 players from India and 409 players from other countries are among the 1,574 participants that have registered for this auction. This time around, fewer international players have signed up, probably as a result of a new BCCI regulation that suspends players for two years if they cancel their IPL obligations (unless they are injured).

With 91 players enrolled, South Africa is in first place, followed by Australia (76), England (52), and New Zealand (39). Interestingly, players from Sri Lanka (29) and Afghanistan (29) have also signed up. On the other hand, only few players from the USA (10) and Canada (4), Ireland (9), and Zimbabwe (8) have joined up.

Details of Indian Player

Just 48 of the 1,165 Indian players who signed up are “capped”—that is, they have either recently competed for India internationally or are under a central contract. In addition, 965 brand-new uncapped players who want to play in the IPL for the first time have registered, along with 152 uncapped players who have previously participated in the competition.

The Oldest Bidder At The Auction

James Anderson of England, who would be the oldest player at 42 with a base price of INR 1.25 lakh, is a surprising addition to this year’s auction. Whether any organisation will risk him is still up in the air.

First Italian Player

Thomas Daka, an Italian player, has signed up for the auction for the first time in IPL history. He has attracted the attention of the Mumbai Indians franchise and currently plays for MI Emirates, a squad owned by the Mumbai Indians.
