IPL: The Complete List of Teams That Have Won The Championship Over the Years-Newz Daddy

The 15th season of the IPL came to a close on Sunday, with Gujarat Titans winning their first title with a seven-wicket triumph over Rajasthan Royals in the final. Gujarat became the eighth different side to win the T20 championship with this victory. From the first season in 2008 to the most recent season, the IPL has produced some outstanding champion teams over the last 14 years.

The winners of the IPL are listed below.

Rajasthan Royals, 2008

In the inaugural edition of the IPL, the Rajasthan Royals, led by Shane Warne, won the title. Rajasthan played fantastic cricket in the league round, losing only three matches and qualifying for the knockout tournament as the first team. Shane Warne’s side won the IPL title with a three-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings in the final.

Deccan Chargers, 2009

Deccan Chargers finished fourth in the group stage of the IPL 2009 edition, but they went on to win the tournament. Deccan won by six runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final.

Chennai Super Kings, 2010

Chennai Super Kings finally won the much-coveted silverware after dropping out of the knockout stage in the first two seasons. They beat the defending champions Deccan Chargers by 38 runs in the semi-final. Dhoni’s team won by 22 runs in the final to claim their maiden IPL title.

Chennai Super Kings, 2011

Defenders of the title Chennai Super Kings continued to put on a spectacular show in 2011. Chennai defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets in the 1st Qualifying Final. In the final match, the two teams met again, but this time there was no change in the outcome, as Chennai won by 58 runs to win two IPL titles in a row. Kolkata Knight Riders, 2012

Kolkata Knight Riders won their maiden IPL trophy in the fifth season. Kolkata upset the defending champions Chennai Super Kings by five wickets in the final to win their first IPL title.

Mumbai Indians, the year 2013

In the sixth season of the IPL, Mumbai Indians won their maiden trophy. Mumbai beat CSK by 23 runs in the final to claim their first-ever title.

Kolkata Knight Riders, 2014

The Kolkata Knight Riders, headed by Gautam Gambhir, won their second IPL title in 2014, defeating Kings XI Punjab by three wickets in the final.

Mumbai Indians, 2015

In the final, former champions Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings faced off. With a 41-run victory over Chennai, Mumbai earned their second IPL title.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, 2016

The 2016 IPL season was Virat Kohli’s season. The then-Royal Challengers Bangalore captain was on fire, scoring 973 runs and four hundred. He continued his outstanding form in the final, scoring 54 off 35 balls. But it wasn’t enough for Bangalore to win the IPL, as Sunrisers Hyderabad won their first title after chasing a massive total of 209 runs.

Mumbai Indians, 2017

Mumbai Indians won their third IPL title in 2017 by winning the narrowest of IPL finals, defeating Rising Pune Supergiant by one run.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

In the qualifier, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad met each other, and then in the final. Kane Williamson’s men, on the other hand, were defeated on both occasions. The MS Dhoni-led squad won the final by an eight-wicket margin, claiming their third cup.

Mumbai Indians (2019)

Mumbai Indians advanced to the 2019 edition’s playoffs after winning the league stage. In a nail-biting final, Rohit Sharma’s team beat defending champions CSK by one run to capture their fourth IPL title.

Mumbai Indians, 2020

Mumbai Indians maintained their superb streak in the 2020 season of the IPL, successfully defending their title after defeating Delhi Capitals by five wickets.

Chennai Super Kings in 2021

In the 14th edition of the IPL, Chennai Super Kings won their fourth title. In the final, they defeated Kolkata Knight Riders, the two-time IPL champions, by 27 runs.

Gujarat Titans, 2022

IPL newcomers In the recently ended season, the Gujarat Titans demonstrated unwavering stability. Hardik Pandya’s team qualified for the playoffs after only losing four games in the league. They defeated Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets in the final.
