Helping Girls Feel Safe
New Delhi, August 14, 2023: In a step towards making girls and women stronger and more confident, Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) and the Sports, Physical Education, Fitness & Leisure-Skill Council (SPEFL-SC) have come together. They want to teach self-defence to girls and women in the Jayant & Kakari Area of Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh.
SPEFL-SC, a group that’s known for teaching self-defence, has partnered with NCL. They want to teach girls how to protect themselves from the troubles they might face every day. The program will last for three days and aims to give the girls the confidence and skills to handle difficult situations.
Special Tools for Safety
Once the girls finish this special course, they will receive a “Nirbhaya Self Defence Kit”. This kit will have things like a Key Chain Alarm, Whistle, Pepper Spray, and Stinger. These tools can help them stay safe and strong in any situation.
NCL is a company connected to the Government of India, and SPEFL-SC is supported by the government too. They both want to help girls feel safer and more empowered. SPEFL-SC has already taught over 15,000 girls self-defence, and they’re working with 10,000 more right now.
SPEFL-SC’s CEO, Mr. Tahsin Zahid, said that these courses are meant to help girls feel confident and strong. NCL is happy to be a part of this effort, saying that the courses by SPEFL-SC are smart and will make a big difference.
