Marathi cinema took centre stage at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2024, as the Maharashtra Chitrapat, Rangbhoomi, and Sansthanik Vikas Mahamandal felicitated several acclaimed Marathi film teams.
The felicitation ceremony, held on the exclusive IMPPA yacht on the Mandovi River in Panaji, was a grand affair attended by industry veterans, filmmakers, and film enthusiasts. Joint Managing Director of the Mahamandal, Dr. Dhananjay Savalkar felicitated the teams of โChhabila,โ โTerav,โ โVishay Hard,โ and โAatmapamphletโ that participated in the Film Bazaar IFFI, while IMPPA President Abhay Sinha and Senior Vice President Sushama Shiromanee, along with Vice President Atul Patel who led the IMPPA yacht, felicitated the IMPPA team. Along with this, the teams of Raosaheb, Limpan, and Gharat Ganapati films that were selected in various competitive sections of IFFI were also felicitated.
Shrirang Godbole, Oscar Jury Shri Ujwal Nirgudkar, Chief Administrative Officer of the Mahamandal, Shri Mangeshji, Smt. Geeta Deshpande, Cine Critic Dr. Shri Santosh Pathare, Ganesh Matkari, Shri Manoj Kadam, and many industry veterans and film representatives were present on the occasion.
The event was a proud moment for Marathi cinema, which reflects its growing global recognition. Swati Mhase Patil, Managing Director of the Mahamandal, highlighted the significance of the honour and said that this is the first time that such recognition has been given to Marathi film teams.
The filmmakers expressed their gratitude to the government for providing them with international opportunities. This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of Marathi filmmakers, who continue to push the boundaries and take the Marathi film industry to new heights.
Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari, popularly known as Filmcity Goregaon, has been playing a vital role in promoting the growth of Marathi cinema. Their active participation in the IFFI film market is a prime example of their commitment to promoting Marathi films globally.
