On October 28, 2023, the National Academy of Coastal Policing (NACP) in Okha, Gujarat, celebrated the graduation of 97 police officers from 9 coastal states and 4 coastal Union Territories. They completed rigorous training in coastal operations.

This is the first group of officials to receive a Diploma in Coastal Security Operations from the Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, which is an important national institution.

Shri Sudhindra K. Singh, the Border Security Force (BSF) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) who leads NACP, congratulated the successful police officers. He encouraged them to use their newly acquired skills to enhance the security of their respective regions along India’s 7,516 km coastline.

DIG Singh praised RRU’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, for partnering with NACP. He also thanked Shri Sushil Goswami, the Director of the School of Integrated Coastal and Maritime Security Studies at RRU, for making the collaboration possible. DIG Singh explained that the diploma not only allows officers to continue their education in coastal security but also helps coastal states and Union Territories have well-trained police officers.

DIG Singh also commended the NACP team for their dedicated work in planning and executing the training program and enhancing the skills of coastal and marine police officers.

Dr. Dharmesh Kumar Prajapati from RRU administered an oath to the graduates, urging them to represent the university well.

Mr. Ankur Sharma, an Assistant Professor at Rashtriya Raksha University, discussed RRU’s activities with NACP officials and explored future collaborations in training and capacity building for coastal and maritime security.

Both NACP and RRU are important projects initiated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Minister of Home and Cooperation Shri Amit Shah. They aim to provide high-quality training and capacity-building programs for the police forces to enhance the nation’s security.
