IPL Media Rights for 2023 to 2027
According to BCCI insiders, the IPL media rights value for the 2023-2027 cycle has surpassed Rs 42,000 crore and is anticipated to rise even further. This is approximately three times the amount paid by Star India in 2017.
The breakdown of who bid what is still being worked out, but the value of pre-match TV and internet rights has crossed the Rs 100 crore threshold.
The procedure has been broken down into four distinct packages (A, B, C, and D). Package A is for Indian subcontinent TV (broadcast), whereas Package B is for digital-only grouping in the same region.
There are four different e-auction packages available, each of which includes 74 games every season for a five-year period with the option to increase the number of games to 94 in the final two years.
Package C includes digital space for 18 games from each season. All games in Package D will be for combined TV and digital rights for international markets.
For each package, each bidder submits a separate bid. Bidders for Package A must have a net worth of Rs 1000 crore, while those bidding for other packages must have a net value of Rs 500 crore.
This year, global behemoths such as Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL), Reliance-Viacom 18, Disney Star Network, and Sony Network are vying for the event’s rights.
