Meta is launching an online store where Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger users can purchase virtual clothing for their avatars. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the launch of the “Avatars Store”. The first digital apparel labels offered by Meta will be Prada, Balenciaga, and Thom Browne. Even though the costs of the ensembles have not yet been established, the free clothing options for Meta avatars will remain available.

The new fashion outfit options, according to Zuckerberg, allow users to express themselves through their avatars. The next week, the business will begin selling digital clothing.

He penned, “We’re introducing an Avatars Store on Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger where you can purchase digital clothing for your avatar. Digital commodities will be a major engine of the creative economy and a means of expressing yourself in the metaverse. I’m looking forward to adding more brands and bringing this to VR as soon as possible. Eva Chen and I put on some of the new Balenciaga, Prada, and Thom Browne styles, which was a nice departure from my terrycloth sweatshirt.”

In order to establish the “Metaverse,” Meta has been upgrading the appearance of its avatars. Earlier this year, the internet behemoth improved its avatars for Facebook and Messenger, as well as adding 3D avatars to Instagram. More faces, skin tones, and accessibility devices have been added to the avatars. Customers can now use the same avatar across all Meta platforms, including virtual reality, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger.
