“The character I play in the show has a superpower that I had always yearned for – telepathic abilities.”, says Eisha Singh who is essaying the role of Bela, a pari in COLORS’ ‘Bekaaboo’
- Tell us something about the show ‘Bekaaboo’.
- The story revolves around Ranav and Bela, who are from two different universes and unaware of their mystical legacies as rakshas and pari respectively. They share an ancestral rivalry while the balance of the multiverse rests on their shoulders. Depicting the ultimate war between good and evil, ‘Bekaaboo’ captures the journey of the pari and rakshas, who are destined to be warring with the history of their families. However, they fall in love. This changes everything for the rakshas who wants to rule over the multiverse and the pari, who must prevent the rakshas from being able to do so.
- Tell us about your character in the show.
- I will be essaying the role of Bela who lives a simple quiet life as a college-going girl and has telepathic powers. She can hear people’s thoughts when she closes her eyes and it’s a gift she would rather not have. Unbeknownst to her, she herself carries the pari lineage and so is inadvertently involved in a war between the clans of pari and rakshas. As the fate of the multiverse hangs in the balance, it will be interesting for the viewers to watch what Bela chooses between duty and love.
- Why did you choose to play this character?
- A. I chose to play this character because I am always eager to explore new facets of my craft. Bekaaboo offered me the opportunity to dive into the fantasy genre, which had been on my bucket list for the longest time. I was drawn to the role of a pari, who is duty-bound to save the multiverse from the greed of the rakshas. The character I play in the show has a superpower that I had always yearned for – telepathic abilities. As an actor, I was excited to take on the challenge of portraying a character with such a unique skill set. The character’s backstory and motivations were also very compelling, and I was eager to bring her to life on screen.
- Any challenges faced while getting into the character or shooting?
- I didn’t face any challenges as such. Being part of a fantasy fiction show is a dream come true for me. I took the charge of doing the best I can to make the character memorable for the audience. I absolutely loved the process of becoming Bela and living her reel life.
- What went into getting your character right and what prep continues to go into the show?
- As far as temperament goes, I’m exactly like Bela. No prep was required for this role, but I made sure that I read the script 100 times. I think that’s the foremost thing an actor should do to get an understanding of their character and the narrative.
- How do you balance your TV and personal life?
- I honestly enjoy working. I don’t crib and for me, my ‘me’ time is with my family. No matter how busy I am, I make sure to take calls from my family. I work in my own capacity, in my own space. I don’t like to be in an atmosphere that demoralizes me. I like to manage my time in a way that nurtures the things that I value.
- What makes this show different from others?
- This show is a first-of-its-kind fantasy revenge drama. There is something for everybody. It is a combination of mysticism, adventure, thriller, and drama. Moreover, the story is themed on the ultimate battle between good and evil.
- Tell us something about your co-actor Shalin and the team?
- Shalin is an energetic actor and he has a commendable presence of mind. We are very comfortable with each other. With time we have got along well. The team is really supportive and I feel like I’m part of a big family.
- What is your message to the viewers?
A.I am extremely excited for the viewers to watch our hard work come to life on screen. Our team has put in a lot of effort to make this show an exciting and thrilling experience for the audience. My message to the viewers is that this show is for everyone, and I hope that each and every one of them will enjoy it. We have included plenty of twists and turns that are sure to keep the audience on the edge of their seats.
