New TV Show ‘Doree’ Highlights Important Issue of Girl Child Abandonment
Newzdaddy Entertainment updates
In India, many people consider women as goddesses, but sadly, some parents abandon their baby girls because they believe that having a daughter won’t carry on the family name. According to a report from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in 2020, around 4.6 lakh (460,000) girls were not born in India every year between 2013 and 2017. This is a serious problem, and it’s because of old-fashioned thinking. But there’s hope for change.
A new TV show called ‘Doree’ is coming soon on COLORS, and it will tell a powerful story about the struggle of a girl who was abandoned as a baby and the fight for her rights in society. The show stars Sudhaa Chandran as Kailashi Devi Thakur, Amar Upadhyay as Ganga Prasad, and Mahi Bhanushali as Doree. It’s produced by Jay and Kinnari Mehtaa’s Jay Mehtaa Productions. ‘Doree’ premieres on November 6, 2023, and you can watch it from Monday to Friday at 9:00 PM on COLORS.
The show is set in Varanasi and deals with the important issue of girl-child abandonment. It follows the story of a six-year-old girl named Doree, who lives with her foster father, Ganga Prasad, in Bunkar Mohalla. She starts questioning why she was left by her biological parents. Ganga Prasad is happy to have a daughter, but Kailashi Devi Thakur, the ruler of Varanasi’s handloom business, thinks daughters are not valuable. In a world where discrimination is a big problem, will Doree be able to break free from these unfair beliefs?
