Nishant Malkani, the lead in the series ‘Johri,‘ recently shared insights into his journey of portraying Niraj Bodi, a character inspired by a real-life personality. The show follows the transformation of a common man into a diamond mogul, exploring the highs and lows of his journey amidst bank scams and fraud, set against the backdrop of the ’90s.
To authentically embody the character, Nishant delved into extensive research, including watching videos multiple times and spending time with individuals who knew their real-life counterparts. He revealed, “A lot of research has gone into preparing for my character in the show.”
However, the actor faced a unique challenge during this process – gaining weight. Known for his fitness regimen, Nishant had to step away from his daily fitness routine to achieve the physical transformation required for the role. He expressed, “The biggest challenge I faced was gaining weight. I’ve always been a fitness freak and had a good physique. I had to stay away from the daily routine of fitness to gain weight and look like the character.”
‘Johri’ unfolds as a gripping drama with Nishant Malkani portraying Niraj, guided by his uncle into the cutthroat world of the diamond business. Charu Asopa complements the narrative as Mani, an enigmatic character influencing Niraj’s rise in the business.
