SVPI Airport’s Comprehensive Approach to Fire Safety
On April 14, 1944, a tragic fire incident at Victoria Harbor claimed the lives of brave firefighters. In honor of their sacrifice, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPI) in Ahmedabad will observe National Fire Safety Week from April 15th to April 20th, 2024.
Empowering Stakeholders
Throughout the week, SVPI Airport will conduct various training and awareness sessions tailored to different stakeholder groups. These sessions will cover essential firefighting skills and include interactive elements like quizzes with spot prizes. Participants will include personnel from areas like the airside apron, Air Traffic Control (ATC), cargo terminal, passenger terminals, airport police station, airport school, and CISF quarters.
Engaging Passengers and Staff
The Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) Team at SVPI Airport will organize engaging events aimed at passengers and staff members. The primary objective is to educate them about basic fire safety measures and self-protection during fire emergencies.
Ensuring Fire Safety to Contribute Towards Nation Building
Aligned with this year’s theme, SVPI Airport aims to prevent fire incidents and contribute to the nation’s stability and economic growth by creating a fire-resistant environment. Workshops, audits, and workshops will be conducted across different departments to ensure comprehensive preparedness.

The week will kick off with a formal opening ceremony, paying tribute to firefighters who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. A moment of silence will be observed to honor their bravery and dedication.

Fire Safety Workshops

Open Fire Safety Quiz Competition
Teams of fire service personnel will organize open quiz competitions for all airport staff and passengers. These quizzes will be a fun yet educational way to test knowledge about fire safety practices and raise awareness among participants.
Fire Equipment Exhibitions
Cutting-edge firefighting equipment and technology, including fire trucks, mobile command posts, and advanced rescue equipment, will be showcased near the First Aid Centre. Airport stakeholders will be able to explore these displays and learn about the latest advancements in fire safety technology.
