- SBD facility equipped to process up to three passengers per minute
- The number of SBD machines doubled from two to four in just seven months of rollout
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport, managed by Adani Airport Holdings Limited, a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Ltd., the flagship incubator of the globally diversified Adani Portfolio, has seen a significant increase in the use of the Self-Baggage Drop (SBD) facility. Since its introduction in November 2023, the usage has been continuously growing day by day. Currently, one in every 20 bags is checked in through the SBD facility demonstrating growing passenger adoption due to the seamless technology and the lesser time spent in queuing at airport counters.
The state-of-the-art SBD facility is designed to provide a time-saving technology interface experience for passengers as it can process up to three passengers per minute. The number of SBD machines has doubled from two to four in 7 months from the time it was introduced, with more airlines considering joining the service. Located at the Departure Check-in Hall at counter numbers 11 and 12 and 39 and 40 of Domestic Terminal T-1, the facility is currently available for Indigo and Air India passengers. By enabling reduced wait times and a seamless experience this has become a preferred check-in process.
In the current financial year, until 31 January 2025, over 1.7 lakh bags have been processed through the SBD facility. The service is proving popular with both frequent flyers and those traveling with family and friends, offering a quick and hassle-free check-in experience.
