The Delhi High Court ordered adjustments to be made to the highly anticipated action film Pathaan, starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, before its OTT release on Monday. Shah Rukh Khan is a superstar in the Bollywood film industry. The Central Board of Film Certification has already given its blessing to the Yash Raj Films-directed movie. Before Pathaan’s streaming debut on March 10, the film’s creators must reapply for CBFC certification. On April 25, Pathaan will become available on the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video.
The Delhi High Court reportedly requested that the Pathaan producers provide Hindi subtitles, closed captions, and audio explanations for the OTT distribution since it needs to be accessible to anyone with visual and hearing impairments. The court ordered the creators to make a few modifications in compliance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 while considering how accessible entertainment is for those who are blind or deaf. Along with Yash Raj Films and OTT provider Prime Video, the following list of additional government organizations was added as respondents in the plea. These organizations include the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B), the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, and others.
The court has noted that the instructions for the inclusion of an audio description cannot be issued at this time. Siddharth Anand helmed the action thriller, and Pathaan will hit theatres on January 25. However, the court issued a directive while taking into account the OTT release.
Shah Rukh Khan will make a comeback to the big screen after a four-year absence. His most recent film appearance was in Zero with Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif. Atlee’s action movie Jawan, South Indian actress Nayanthara, and Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki are all films starring Shah Rukh Khan.
