PM Modi departs for Japan for the G7 summit, where he will participate in the gathering of developed nations and the United States will slap 300 penalties on Russia.

The G7 summit began on Friday in the Japanese city of Hiroshima with the gathering of the heads of the seven major economies in the world. In order to participate in this program as a guest in this meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also departed. All G7 leaders paid respects to those lost in the World War II atomic bombing of Hiroshima upon their arrival in Japan.

The gathering, which runs through May 21, will also cover China and Russia as well as the economy and climate change. The US intends to penalize Russia 300 times over the Ukraine war. While British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak declared a ban on Russian diamonds even before the summit began. The story states that Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, will also attend the conference in addition to Bloomberg.

For the G-7 Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed today for Hiroshima, Japan. Modi intends to remain until May 21. A visit by an Indian prime minister to Hiroshima, Japan, is taking place for the first time in 66 years. In 1957, Jawaharlal Nehru travelled to Hiroshima.

The visit is crucial.

It’s important that Modi is in Hiroshima. India is one of the nations that has not ratified the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (also known as the NPT). This pact prohibits nuclear testing as its main goal. The first and last nuclear attacks in recorded history both took place in Hiroshima, making it the first city in the world.

also intends to go to Peace Memorial Park

According to Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra, Modi will dedicate the Mahatma Gandhi statue at Hiroshima. Along with the G-7 leaders, he will also go to the Peace Memorial Park after the conference. In honour of those who perished in the nuclear strike, the park was constructed.

Attempt to move the QUAD meeting from Sydney to Hiroshima

According to Kwatra, Modi will address bilateral ties with other world leaders, including Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. The leaders of the QUAD countries are expected to meet in Hiroshima itself, at least in theory. This is a result of US Vice President Joe Biden postponing his trip to Sydney owing to a scheduling conflict.

According to Kwatra, PM Modi will visit Papua New Guinea following the G-7 summit. On May 22, he will spend a short while here before departing for Australia.

G7 nations will devise strategies to lessen China’s hegemony.

The AP news agency reports that the summit will also cover the Russia-Ukraine conflict. According to US officials, this is when China’s expanding economic dominance will be discussed. The unified statement will also include a comprehensive section on how to respond to China’s challenge.

Biden’s foreign policy priorities, according to a Reuters article, center on competitiveness with China. However, Donald Trump also brought up concerns regarding China’s economic hegemony through the G7, but these received little attention.

The G7 nations’ ability to stand together against China will also be put to the test at the Hiroshima conference. In fact, during his trip to China last month, French President Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed the One China policy.
According to Macron, we must resist American coercion in our dealings with China. In such a scenario, France might try to refrain from criticizing China in the G-7 nations’ joint statement.
