To understand the life and daredevilry of Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, actor Akshay Kumar and debutante Manushi Chhillar rely largely on ‘Prithviraj Raso,’ an epic poem composed by Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan’s court poet Chand Bardai.

“When you start out to make a historical like Prithviraj, which is based on the life and daredevilry of a powerful warrior who lost his life to preserving his motherland and people, you must be absolutely certain that you are being faithful to his life and times,” adds Akshay.

“I was ecstatic to be working with such a renowned historian like Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi ji, who has demonstrated his impeccable research and understanding of Indian history in previous works.”
He went on to say that the director gave him the “amazing Prithviraj Raso,” a Brajbhasha epic poem on the life of Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, during their initial talks on the project.

This work, penned by Chand Bardai, a Samrat court poet, became the foundation of my project preparation. Reading this book was eye-opening for me since I had a better understanding of Samrat’s life philosophy, and it became vital study material that I referred to throughout the filming.”

Manushi explains, “Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, my director, gave me Prithviraj Raso and advised me to study it if I wanted to learn about the lives and times of the legendary Samrat. The book proved to be essential in helping me comprehend Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan’s mentality and his life journey with Princess Sanyogita.”
“Because I always had Prithviraj Raso to look to, I suppose I could prepare completely.”

Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi directed the film ‘Prithviraj.’

The film will be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on June 3rd.
