Achha Sila Diya, a film starring Rajkummar Rao and Nora Fatehi, was not necessary, but regrettably, it does. The song is an updated rendition of Sonu Nigam’s 1995 original.

A new song written by B Praak and Jaani about betrayal and love is out. The song, titled “Achha Sila Diya,” is a reworked version of the Sonu Nigam ballad from Bewafa Sanam. Ataullah Khan, a Pakistani singer, sang the song’s original version. Nora Fatehi and Rajkummar Rao are paired together in the lengthy video, and just as in the popular Arijit Singh song Pachtaoge, Nora ends up betraying the male protagonist.

Here, she arranges for Rao to be “killed” by her secret boyfriend rather than poison Vicky Kaushal. The entire situation smacks of a scene from the 80s or 90s Bollywood film or a Hindi daily soap. Although, in all honesty, there isn’t much that separates the two.

One can only hope that the top brass at T-Series would one day understand that we live in 2023 and not in an India from the 1980s, or even just the notion that a song or music video may just be that and doesn’t require a “plotline.” In addition to Rajkummar Rao channeling his more dramatic side in the song video, Nora does what she does best, which is dance and overact. Even though the music and lyrics are only passable, they nevertheless outperform the dull Tanishk Bagchi remixes.
B Praak sang the lead role in the Arvindr Khaira-directed song Achha Sila Diya.
