Rashtriya Raksha University Honors Police Heroes on Police Commemoration Day
Gandhinagar, 21st October, 2023 – On Police Commemoration Day, the Vice-Chancellor of Rashtriya Raksha University, Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N Patel, along with staff, faculty, and students, paid their respects to the police and CAPF personnel who have sacrificed their lives for our safety.
What is Police Commemoration Day? Police Commemoration Day is a day we set aside every year to remember and honor the brave men and women who serve in the police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). It all started in 1959 when 10 courageous Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel valiantly fought Chinese forces in Ladakh at Hot Springs. We remember their sacrifice and the sacrifice of others who have given their lives to protect us.
How do we remember them? At Rashtriya Raksha University, we remember these heroes by placing flowers as a sign of respect and reading the names of every police and CAPF personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty in the past year. This is our way of saying thank you for their dedication and hard work in keeping our country safe.
Why is this day important? This day is significant because it reminds us of the dedication and commitment of our police officers to maintain law and order. Our Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, also paid his respects on this day. At Rashtriya Raksha University, we don’t just pay tribute to the fallen heroes, but we also teach our young students about the sacrifices made by the police and CAPF personnel and their families in keeping our society safe and secure.

What is the government doing to help the police forces? The Government of India is working hard to support our police forces. They provide them with the latest equipment and offer various training programs to enhance their capabilities. The School of Internal Security and Police Administration at Rashtriya Raksha University is one of the leading schools in this effort. They work closely with state police forces and CAPF to make sure our police officers are well-prepared and trained.
In simple terms, Police Commemoration Day is a day when we remember and honor the brave police officers who have given their lives to keep us safe. At Rashtriya Raksha University, we pay our respects with flowers and by reading their names. It’s a day to appreciate the hard work and dedication of our police and CAPF personnel.
