Ravindra Jadeja Praises Virat Kohli’s Amazing Century in Kolkata
Newzdaddy Cricket updates
Ravindra Jadeja has given a big thumbs up to Virat Kohli for his fantastic century in Kolkata, which helped India win a crucial match. Kohli’s 49th ODI hundred, tying with Sachin Tendulkar’s record, was particularly impressive as he tackled a challenging pitch at the Eden Gardens.
Jadeja mentioned that during the afternoon, the pitch was slow, and it was tough for the batsmen to score runs. But he praised Kohli and the middle-order batsmen for handling the opposition’s spinners very well.
He said, “This is a special achievement because the pitch was difficult. When the team was struggling to score, rotating the strike, taking boundaries, and finishing not out was a significant effort.”
During the middle overs, South Africa’s spinners made it hard for India to score after a strong start by Rohit Sharma. Kohli and Shreyas Iyer’s partnership was key to India’s success.
South Africa’s head coach, Rob Walters, acknowledged that they allowed India to score more runs than they should have and didn’t blame the pitch.
Jadeja also revealed that India chose to bat first to challenge themselves on a slow pitch and to test how they would deal with dew in the evening. They wanted to be prepared for similar situations in the knockout stage of the tournament.
With this win, India moved to the top of the points table, while South Africa, also through to the semi-finals, learned valuable lessons for the upcoming knockout matches.
