Reliance Donates Rs. 25 Crore for Uttarakhand’s Recovery

Mumbai, September 9, 2023: In a bid to aid the recovery efforts in flood-affected Uttarakhand and as a continuation of their ongoing commitment to social development in the state, Reliance, represented by Shri Anant Ambani, has donated Rs. 25 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Shri Anant Ambani expressed the company’s deep connection with the people of Uttarakhand, having supported them through both good times and challenging ones over the past ten years. He praised the resilience of the state and its people in the face of crises and announced this meaningful contribution to the state’s well-being.
The floods and landslides caused by heavy rains in Uttarakhand during July and August this year resulted in significant loss of life and property. Reliance has been a steadfast supporter of Uttarakhand since the devastating floods of 2013. They were among the first to reach remote areas, providing relief, and shelter, and initiating efforts to rebuild lives. Reliance Foundation played a crucial role in reconstructing institutions, including two schools serving 30 villages. They also trained communities to become more resilient. Reliance extended support during the 2021 floods and the COVID-19 pandemic as well.
Reliance has collaborated with the Uttarakhand government and other organizations on various social initiatives. They helped rural communities create significant water harvesting capacity, improving water availability for agriculture and daily use in 90 villages. Community healthcare initiatives brought medical services to remote areas, and they trained 1,500 women and 1,200 Gram Panchayat representatives in community development, many of whom became grassroots leaders.
Furthermore, Reliance has been a strong advocate for sports as a tool for development, supporting over 3.8 lakh children and youth in Uttarakhand through its Education and Sports for All programs. They organized the Chirbatiya Luthiyag marathon in 2018 and 2019, promoting community unity, showcasing talent, and raising awareness about ecological conservation.
The positive outcomes of Reliance’s efforts in Uttarakhd have served as an inspiration for development initiatives in other parts of India. Under the “We Care” spirit, Reliance remains dedicated to the inclusive development and well-being of people across India.
