Review of Gujarati Movie “Kasoombo”
This is the story of every family in India and Indians across the globe. The lack of understanding of in-laws and lack of understanding of daughter-in-laws. The day in-laws will treat their daughters-in-law as their daughters and vice versa, no family will be separated.
This film gives a message that a house in which a family lives is called a home and without family, it is just a house.
The film shows how everyone must have a feeling of “LET GO” and when we let go, we get joy and happiness.
The Plot of “Vanilla Ice Cream”:
“Vanilla Ice Cream” is a captivating story that unfolds within the confines of a college setting, where Varun and Komal’s meeting blossoms into a profound love story and ultimately gets married. However, the sweet symphony of their love faces a disagreement note when Komal chooses to defy Varun’s parent’s wishes and embark on the journey of marriage. What starts as a rebellious act fueled by love transforms into a touching narrative of family dynamics and the consequences of going against tradition.
As the plot thickens, a seemingly insignificant misunderstanding acts as a catalyst, creating a rift within what was once a closely-knit and affectionate family. The film searches into the complexities of relationships not only between Varun and Komal but also within the broader context of familial bonds. The tension that ensues challenges the strength of their love and raises thought-provoking questions about the delicate balance between individual desires and familial expectations.
“Vanilla Ice Cream” skillfully captures the nuances of emotions, weaving a narrative that is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. The director’s ability to portray the characters’ inner conflicts and the evolution of their relationships adds depth to the storyline. The audience is taken on a rollercoaster of emotions, from the initial euphoria of love to the serious tones of family discord.
Writing and Direction:
Gohil’s storytelling prowess is evident in the pacing of the film. The narrative unfolds at a measured rhythm, allowing the audience to invest in the characters and their relationships. The writer effectively builds tension, particularly during pivotal moments, keeping the viewers on the edge of their seats. The nuanced handling of the plot’s progression contributes to the emotional impact of the film.
Preetsinh Gohil’s direction in “Vanilla Ice Cream” is a commendable blend of sensitivity and narrative finesse. Gohil skillfully navigates the complex layers of the story, bringing forth a compelling visual representation of love, conflict, and familial dynamics. The director demonstrates a keen understanding of human emotions, capturing the nuances of each character’s journey with a nuanced touch.
One notable aspect of Gohil’s direction is the way in which he creates an immersive atmosphere.
Powerful Dialogues:
પંખીડાનો માળો છે જીવન, પાંડખીડાની પાંખો આવે એને પંખી ઉડી જાય તો એમાં એમની પાંખોનો શું વાંક?
The dialogues in “Vanilla Ice Cream” contribute significantly to the film’s emotional depth and narrative impact. Written with a delicate touch by director Preetsinh Gohil, the dialogues capture the essence of the character’s emotions, conflicts, and evolving relationships. The screenplay skillfully weaves important conversations, reflecting the complexities of love, familial expectations, and the consequences of choices. The dialogues not only serve as a tool for character development but also resonate with the audience.

Let’s Talk About The Performance
Malhar is a very big name in the Gujarati Film Industry, he has a huge fan following, but in my opinion, he has done the same thing he has done in his previous films.
I am not very much impressed by the acting of Malhar Thakar. He does it again, the same monotonous way of acting. Same repeated style of dialogue delivery and never changing facial expression. His facial expression remains the same in every film.
His character as Varun in the film is like a man standing in the middle of the river. The on-screen chemistry between Malhar and Yukti is awesome.
Yukti Randeria is awesome in the movie. Yukti Randeria, portraying the role of Komal, delivers a compelling performance that captures the nuances of her character’s journey. Yukti Randeria skillfully navigates the emotional spectrum, portraying Komal’s love, resilience, and internal conflict arising from familial discord. Her on-screen presence and ability to convey subtle emotions add layers to the character, making Komal a relatable and empathetic figure.
Archan Trivedi plays a father’s role as well as a son’s role in the film. The portrayal of Malhar’s (Varun) father by Archan Trivedi becomes a pivotal element in the narrative, influencing the family dynamics and contributing to the overall emotional arc of the story. His performance not only captures the essence of a protective and traditional father but also highlights the internal battles faced when familial expectations clash with personal desires.
Archan Trivedi’s love and respect for his own father in the film adds more depth to his character and shows the importance of the father in the family. Archan Trivedi’s nuanced portrayal adds a layer of authenticity to the film’s exploration of generational conflicts within the framework of familial bonds.
Vandana Pathak, portraying a key role in the familial dynamics, delivers a standout performance. Pathak’s portrayal is marked by emotional depth and authenticity as she navigates the complexities of family relationships. Her nuanced expressions and powerful delivery contribute significantly to the film’s exploration of tradition, conflict, and resolution.
Negative Points
- The film lacks comedy punches. There could be more comedy sequences or one-liners between the family, there was ample space for it.
- I am disappointed by the monotonous acting of Malhar Thakar. No change in facial expression or dialogue delivery.
- The story also had the space for more anxiety, tension and conflict between the family, especially mother and son, which is not there in the movie.
Positive points
- It is the story of every Indian family, a very beautiful message of “let go”. Always have a feeling of “LET GO”, at least for your family.
- Preetsinh’s story and direction are excellent.
- The music and sound quality is superb.
- Performance of all the lead characters especially Yutki Randeria, Archan Trivedi, Vandana Pathak and Satish Bhatt (Dadaji) is adding Cherry to Vanilla Ice Cream.
In conclusion, “Vanilla Ice Cream is a story of every Indian Family, if you adopt the message of the movie and are willing to live happily with your loved ones, then you must watch this movie with your complete family.
