“Builder Boys” is a Gujarati film that tells the story of two friends, a broker and a civil engineer, who share a dream of becoming successful builders. Despite their ambitions, they face significant hurdles due to a lack of funds and land. Their fortunes seem to take a turn when they come across an old residential building set for redevelopment. However, their plans are thrown into disarray by a superstitious real estate tycoon who believes the building is his lucky charm and then starts a roller coaster ride between these parties Builder Tycoon, These two young friends, and the residents of the building.
The Storyline
The storyline of the movie “Builder Boys” is engaging and relatable, focusing on themes of ambition, friendship, and the struggle to achieve dreams against all odds. One more important message is given by this movie is never to break the trust of anyone. The narrative weaves through the challenges faced by the protagonists as they try to convince the residents of the building to support their redevelopment plans, all while contending with the eccentric real estate tycoon. The fight to achieve dreams by the two struggling friends and the builder shows power and between these two parities the poor residents of the apartment suffers.
The Acting
The film boasts a strong ensemble cast, with standout performances from the lead actors. The broker and civil engineer, portrayed by Superstar of the Gujarati Film Industry Raunaq Kamdar, Shivam Parekh, and beautiful Esha Kansara deliver compelling and heartfelt performances, capturing the essence of their characters’ aspirations and challenges. The real estate tycoon, played by Shekhar Shukla, brings a unique blend of humour and antagonism to the story.
Raunaq Kamdar gives a brilliant performance and hits Gujarati movies one after the other. His latest superhit movie was “Kasumbo”. He has proved time and again by his performance that he is the present and the future of the Gujarati Film Industry.
Shivam Parekh has got one of the major roles in this film and he has acted brilliantly. His facial expressions were up to the mark as per the situation of the scene.
Esha Kansara looks beautiful on the screen and the chemistry between her and Raunaq is amazing.
The Writing And The Direction
After the success of his first Gujarati film, “Chabutro” writer-director Chanakya Patel wrote the story of the movie “Builder Boys” and also directed it. Taking on the common topic of society and making a film on it and making such a wonderful film is highly appreciable.
The dialogues are written in a day-to-day language as we speak, this is the core essence of the movie.
The direction is also top-notch. The scene in which the two friends are sitting and a very high crane and the crane moves is just awesome, excellent VFX. This shows he knows how to get the best out of his team.
The Cinematography
The cinematography by Aditya is commendable, capturing the urban landscape and the nuances of the old residential building with finesse. Visual storytelling enhances the film’s atmosphere, drawing the audience into the world of the protagonists.
The Screenplay
The screenplay is tight and well-structured. It effectively integrates humour, drama, and moments of tension, keeping the audience engaged throughout. The dialogue and the tone used in the screenplay are natural, contributing to the film’s overall appeal.
The Strengths and Flaws:
Strength
- Strong performances by all the lead actors.
- Engaging storyline with very relatable themes.
- Well-balanced story and direction that blends humour and drama.

- Very little but excellent use of VFX.
- Superb chemistry between the lead actors especially, Raunaq and Esha and also between Raunaq and Shivam.
- No abusive, brutal, or adult scenes.
Flaws
- Some secondary characters could have been more developed.
- The pacing slows down slightly in the middle, especially in the second half.
- The superstitious angle might seem exaggerated to some viewers.
- There is romance but it could be more to add the spice in the dish.
- A few more comedy punches would have been great.
- There could be some action scenes also between the hero and the builder goons.
