Rita Moreno, who starred in West Side Story, has joined the cast as Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto’s grandmother in the highly anticipated action blockbuster.

Vin Diesel took to Instagram on Tuesday to officially confirm the Oscar winner’s inclusion in the picture. “Working with Rita Moreno has always been a dream of mine, and the fact that she’s here playing my grandmother makes my soul grin,” Diesel said as he sat between Moreno and his longtime co-star Michelle Rodriguez.

“I’m very fortunate.” “You know what, I guess I was getting…” says Moreno as Diesel pans the camera to focus on her. My elderly age was probably waiting for you to welcome me. Isn’t it lovely? And I’ve arrived. And the answer is yes, I’ll go ahead and do it.”

“And yes, not only do it, but I’m pleased to hell to do it,” she continues. I’m overjoyed. It’s going to be fantastic!” “Rita Moreno in the house, sweetheart!” Rodriguez exclaims at the end of the 42-second film, after exchanging “thank yous” and “I love yous.”

Rita Moreno joins the ensemble alongside Brie Larson, Jason Momoa, and Alan Ritchson, who are all newcomers to the franchise. Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Ludacris, Sung Kang, Nathalie Emmanuel, Tyrese Gibson, Scott Eastwood, and Charlize Theron as the nefarious Cipher are among those returning to the Fast And Furious universe.

Rita Moreno’s addition to the film comes just weeks after Louis Leterrier was announced as the new director, replacing frequent franchise filmmaker Justin Lin, who just stepped down. Meanwhile, Vin Diesel has been updating his social media with information about the film’s production, from video messages from the set with his co-stars to welcoming new cast members.
