Gujarat State Assembly Election 2022 Results: In Gujarat, the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP hopes to win an unprecedented seventh straight term.
Rivaba Jadeja, a BJP candidate from Jamnagar North, displays her inked finger after casting her ballot in the first round of the Gujarat Assembly elections on Thursday in Rajkot.
In the 2022 Gujarat Assembly election, Rivaba Jadeja of the BJP is far ahead in the vote counting from the Jamnagar (north) constituency. In order to combat anti-incumbency, the BJP chose Rivaba against incumbent MLA Dharmendrasinh Jadeja, the wife of famed Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja.
Riva Jadeja had approximately 70,000 votes at 1.30m. Karshanbhai Karmur of the Aam Aadmi Party, a prominent member of the Ahir community, is her closest opponent with almost 28,000 votes.
With fewer than 20,000 votes, Bipendrasinh Jadeja of the Congress is in third place.
In the 2017 election, Dharmendrasinh Jadeja defeated Ahir Jivanbhai Karubhai of Congress by a margin of more than 40,000 votes.
While running for Congress in 2012, Dharmendrasinh Jadeja defeated BJP candidate Ayar Bera Mulubhai Hardasbhai by a margin of 9,448 votes.
Apart from the connection to Ravindra Jadeja, most of the discussion around Rivaba, who is running for office for the first time, has centered on a potential family dispute. This is because the cricketer’s father and sister have been actively supporting the Congress candidate in the region.
Such claims have been refuted by Rivaba Jadeja, who argues that it is not unprecedented for two party members to hold opposing ideas.
“He is not speaking as my father-in-law but rather as an employee of another party. It is a private concern for him. I have faith in Jamnagar’s inhabitants.”
In Gujarat, the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP hopes to win an unprecedented seventh straight term. Voting took place on December 1 and December 5.
Despite opposition from both the Congress and newcomers Aam Aadmi Party, which earned a statement victory in Tuesday’s MCD poll, exit polls have given the BJP a significant victory.
