In a meaningful move towards empowering the youth of Jammu & Kashmir, Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) is all set to start education and skill-building programs at its transit campus in Narbal, Budgam. The programs are specially designed to help young students and job-seekers learn new skills, find employment, and build strong careers in national security, policing, and related fields.
The university plans to start its first academic sessions in July 2025, offering certificate, diploma, and postgraduate diploma courses. These programs will cover a wide range of subjects, including police science, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer science, behavioral sciences, corporate security, tourism and policing, physical education, languages, and NCC.
During a recent visit to Jammu & Kashmir, Dr. Bimal N Patel, Vice-Chancellor of Rashtriya Raksha University, met with Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Omar Abdullah. He explained how RRU’s educational programs aim to train, upskill, and reskill young individuals who want to contribute to the safety and security of the nation.
Special focus is being given to cybersecurity, corporate security, tourism-related policing, and psychology—areas that are not only important for national safety but also offer exciting career opportunities for students.
The Hon’ble CM warmly welcomed the initiative and praised RRU for its forward-looking vision. He also accepted Dr. Patel’s invitation to visit RRU’s main campus in Lavad, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, and said he looks forward to meeting the faculty who will soon begin teaching in Kashmir.
The RRU team also met Hon’ble Education Minister Mme Sakina Itoo, who appreciated the university’s efforts and especially highlighted the opportunities it creates for women. She expressed her interest in ensuring that women from Jammu & Kashmir also get a chance to serve the country in security and law enforcement roles.
She emphasized the need for inclusive and high-quality education, particularly in regions that have long needed more educational opportunities. Her words added a strong sense of commitment to the mission RRU has taken up.
Dr. Mahesh Tripathi, Acting Director of the J&K Campus of RRU, will now work closely with government departments, educational institutions, schools, and employment agencies in the region. His role will be key in ensuring that students from Kashmir can easily access and benefit from the new educational offerings.
RRU is not new to this work. While its main campus is in Gujarat, it already has active regional campuses in:
-
Pashighat (Arunachal Pradesh)
-
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh)
-
Puducherry
-
Shivamogga (Karnataka)
These campuses are known for offering customized programs that match the needs of their respective regions. Now, with the upcoming Kashmir campus in Narbal (Budgam), the university is extending its reach to another part of India with immense potential.
The goal is simple—to educate, empower, and create employment-ready youth in areas that matter most for national development and safety.
