which features Armaan Malik, Shreya Ghoshal, Papon, and other talented singers. This unique record was assembled by Rashid Khan, Shreya Ghoshal, Arman Malik, Sahil Hada, Papon, Pratibha Baghel, and Madhubanti Bagchi.
The musical endeavours of Sanjay Leela Bhansali have always been as significant as his films. It’s understandable that music predominates Bhansali’s entire filmography given how involved he is in every element of music composition. One of Bhansali’s most gorgeous and aesthetically appealing compositions is still the music from Bajirao Mastani. Even better, he received a National Award for Padmaavat’s “Best Music Director” category. One can easily see how music is an integral part of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s life because he not only gave the world access to talented vocalists like Shreya Ghoshal and Arijit Singh but also gave back-to-back hits with Guzaarish and Gangubai Kathiawadi. The listeners can now hear his self-produced record, “Sukoon.”
Sanjay Leela Bhansali spent nearly two years selecting the songs for this gorgeous work of art, which he presents as a dedication to Lata Mangeshkar, the Queen of Melody. The album’s nine songs, which bring back memories of bygone, romantic ballads, make it relevant for young people today. This unique CD was put together by a group of talented singers, including Rashid Khan, Shreya Ghoshal, Arman Malik, Sahil Hada, Papon, Pratibha Baghel, and Madhubanti Bagchi. Each of Sukoon’s melodies is distinctive and special in its own right. Here is how the musicians described their songs:
GHALIB HONA HAI
As he communicates the intense feelings of a beau in Ghalib Hona Hai, Arman Malik will show a very different side of himself. A.M. Turaz is the author of the lyrics. “I am really happy about ‘Ghalib Hona Hai,’ since it is truly an honour to sing a composition by Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir,” Arman said when asked about his song. For a very long time, I’ve wanted to collaborate with him, and now the world will be able to enjoy this audio-visual delight! Vocally, Sanjay sir has discovered a very new side of me, and I’m happy that he pushed me past my comfort zone to give it all I had. For the longest time, everyone affiliated with “Sukoon” has been impatiently awaiting the release of this record, which the world may now claim as their own.
TUJHE BHI CHAND AND QARAAR
Shreya will make you fall in love with her voice all over again after making her singing debut in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s classic film “Devdas,” lending her melodic voice for “Gangubai Kathiwadi,” and now with Tuje Bhi Chand and Qaraar. Shreya stated, “I have been working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir since I was 16 and I cannot be more grateful towards him for always believing in me. Another one of his masterpieces, “Sukoon,” will alter how people in the present period view ghazals.
DARD PATTHARON KO
You will be mesmerised hearing Papon, who has dominated Indian independent music, sing a classical melody with a contemporary twist on Dard Pattharon Ko. Speaking about working with Sukoon, Papon said, “I have a special spot for ghazals in my heart. The songs were written by Kumaar. It has been a pleasure and an honour to work with Mr Bhansali on such a passionate album, which is his first original music album. Numerous other brilliant artists are also included in it. The listeners will surely enjoy it, I’m sure of it. I’m looking forward to all the love it will get.
GHAM NA HONE
Rashid Khan, the pinnacle of classical music, has brought magic to Gham Ba Hone with his voice. A. M. Turaz wrote the song’s lyrics, and Rashid Khan said of the experience of working on it, “Working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali always brings out the best in us. This Sukoon album is exceptional.
HAR EK BAAT
Pratibha Baghel, a singer renowned for her talent in soulful songs, performs Har Ek Baat. Ghalib is responsible for the lyrics. Pratibha expressed her excitement and honour at being a part of Maestro Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s musical production when asked about her song. It is merely a dream realised.
MUSKURAHAT AND SIVA TERE (Male)
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s songs have had Shail Hada as their voice in a number of his tracks. Muskurahat and Siva Tere sparked a spark that will imbue Muskurahat in one’s heart upon their reunion with him for these modern classical melodies. A.M. Turaz wrote the words for both of these songs. Shail mentioned “Soul’s Search Sukoon” when discussing his collaboration with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. For me, the essence of Sir Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s album Sukoon is what I term Sukoon: when music and sorrow are generated within the soul and they affect another’s soul.
SIVA TERE (Female)
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Siva Tere has the new voice of Madhubanti Bagchi, who soothes the spirit. This song’s lyrics were written by A. M. Turaz. Madhubanti said of her collaboration with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, “It was an honour to be featured in Sir’s first non-film album alongside some of our country’s best artists. I hope the album also wins the admiration and love of the listeners.
Sukoon is a compilation of the labour, dedication, and time put forth by each of these artists, enhanced by the musical brilliance of Bhansali. All top streaming services are currently playing the album live.
