David had smashed Natarajan for four sixes in a row to help Mumbai Indians draw closer to the objective. Fans of MI were disappointed when David was fired.
On Tuesday, Mumbai Indians made a valiant effort to chase down a 198-run target set by Sunrisers Hyderabad. Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma set the tone early, while Tim David’s onslaught brought MI within striking distance of victory. However, David’s removal proved to be the game’s turning point, as Sara Tendulkar’s reaction to his dismissal demonstrates.
Tim David has been the center of attention for virtually the whole season, thanks to his INR 8.25 crore price tag. The Singaporean has made a fine comeback to the MI team after being dropped early in the season, providing brilliant cameos with the bat. David appeared to have taken Mumbai to victory against the Sunrisers, scoring 46 runs off just 18 balls. He didn’t get it to fifty, though, as he was run out by T Natarajan just four runs short.
David’s departure was a significant setback for MI, who appeared to be on their way to a fantastic victory. The entire Mumbai Indians camp was stunned to see David go on a run-out, and Sara Tendulkar’s response told it all. After the game, MI captain Rohit Sharma discussed David’s run-out and how it altered the game’s outcome.
“I felt we had it till the second to last over. Tim David’s unfortunate runout.. but we thought we were still in the game till that runout,” Rohit told Star Sports.
“Even 19 runs in two overs is something you would bet on, but regrettably we couldn’t accomplish it.” Sunrisers deserve credit for maintaining their composure. He continued, “It was a pretty tight time, and they kept their nerve extremely well on the back end.”
Rohit has also confirmed that in the last league game of the season, he will give a few more young guns a chance to show off their skills. MI has nothing to lose because they are already out of the postseason race.
