Ahmedabad, October 16, 2023:

A surprising incident unfolded on October 15, 2023, when a Supreme Court lawyer named Mr. Jai Anant Dehadrai filed a complaint with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He submitted a sworn statement, formally known as an affidavit, in which he alleged a well-planned criminal plot involving Hon’ble Member of Parliament Ms. Mahua Moitra and Mr. Darshan Hiranandani, the CEO of Hiranandani Group. According to the lawyer, this scheme specifically targeted Mr. Gautam Adani and his group of companies by using parliamentary questions. Mr. Dehadrai further claimed that, in return for her actions, Ms. Moitra received bribes and special favors from Mr. Hiranandani. Another MP has also forwarded this complaint to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, requesting an investigation into potential corruption and a suspension for Ms. Moitra. This complaint has become widely known in the public and has received extensive coverage in the media.

This recent development aligns with our statement from October 9, 2023, where we mentioned that some groups and individuals were working diligently to harm the reputation, goodwill, and market standing of the Adani Group. The lawyer’s complaint reveals that this effort to tarnish the Adani Group’s reputation and interests, as well as its Chairman Mr. Gautam Adani, has been ongoing since 2018.

On October 9, 2023, we informed the public through a media statement and official filings that certain foreign entities, such as OCCRP, supported by a section of foreign media, short-sellers, and local collaborators, were actively launching attacks against the Adani Group. Their primary goal was to reduce the group’s market value. These individuals and groups shared a common objective: damaging the Adani Group, and they followed a well-structured plan executed both in India and abroad.

One of the tactics mentioned in their plan involved releasing media reports right before important court hearings in India. As expected, on October 12, 2023, the Financial Times published an article that repeated baseless allegations against the Adani Group, just one day before a crucial Adani-related case in the Supreme Court.
