Jos Buttler
“Shane Warne has been a huge part of RR’s success. We’ll miss him terribly “Buttler, who now owns the Orange Cap as the best run-scorer in the IPL, admitted as much.
Meanwhile, captain Sanju Samson reflected on watching Warne’s Royals defeat the Chennai Super Kings in the first IPL final. “I was quite young at the time, and it was the inaugural IPL season, and I recall playing an under-16 game in Kerala. I recall watching the last game with my pals and recalling Shane Warne and Sohail Tanvir hitting the game-winning run and sprinting away; it is a hazy memory “Samson remarked.
Jos Buttler scores his fourth century in the IPL 2022 and takes the lead in the Orange Cap race.
Buttler’s unbroken century helped Royals beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by seven wickets in Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday.
The Royals’ first final in 14 years is also a monument to Shane Warne, known as “the first Royal” and one of cricket’s all-time greats, who died of a heart attack in March at the age of 52. The Royals donned specially designed uniforms in memory of Warne in a game against the Mumbai Indians earlier this season. This was to honour their captain, mentor, and guide, who was responsible for their first-ever IPL victory.
After serving as the team’s captain-mentor from 2001 to 2011, Warne joined the Royals as a mentor and brand ambassador till the IPL 2020 season.
From 2008 to 2011, the Australian great captained the Royals for three seasons, appearing in 52 games and taking 56 wickets at an average of 24.66.
