In a heartwarming show of friendship, Sourav Ganguly, who is famously known as the Bengal Tiger, came to Kolkata on September 28, 2023, to help his friend Muthiah Muralidaran promote a movie about his life called ‘800’. This movie is all about Muralidaran’s amazing record of taking 800 wickets in test cricket, a record that nobody has beaten yet.
The movie ‘800’ stars Madhur Mittal, who won an Oscar for his acting in ‘Slumdog Millionaire‘, as Muralidaran. It’s going to be in theaters on October 6, and you can watch it in Tamil, Hindi, or Telugu.

In the morning, Muralidaran and Madhur Mittal visited a school in Saltlake Shiksha Niketan to tell the students about their movie. Later in the day, they talked to reporters and ate some delicious food from Kolkata.
Muralidaran explained, “You’ve all seen me play cricket, but the movie is about much more than that. It’s about my childhood and all the tough times I went through in my life and cricket career.”
Madhur Mittal, who had the tricky job of playing the cricket legend on screen, said, “It was a big challenge, but I watched a lot of videos of Muralidaran and tried to act like him. I met Murali sir just once before we started filming, and he told me not to copy him exactly. I did my best, and I hope he and his family like how I played his character.”

The movie ‘800’ will take you on a journey beyond the cricket pitch, showing you the personal and professional life of one of cricket’s greatest stars, Muthiah Muralidaran. And the support from Sourav Ganguly makes it even more special in Kolkata.
