SA tour of India
On Monday (June 6), Team India convened at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi to begin preparations for the forthcoming five-match T20 series against South Africa, which begins on Thursday (June 9). After the IPL 2022 ended last month, this was the first training session under head coach Rahul Dravid.
In this series, India will be captained by KL Rahul, with usual captain Rohit Sharma, as well as Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, resting to prepare for the series against England next month. This is the start of a frantic few months for Team India as they prepare for the T20 World Cup 2022, which will be held in Australia in October-November of this year.
Coach Rahul Dravid addressed the players and gave a motivational talk to skipper KL Rahul’s side in a huddle. The clip was published on Twitter by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). “Prepare mode is on in Back in Blue.” The BCCI captioned the photo, “Team India begins training in Delhi ahead of the first T20I against South Africa.”
The opening T20I of the series will be played in Delhi on Thursday (June 9). Following that, the following matches will be held at Cuttack, Vizag, Rajkot, and Bengaluru. The team will fly to Ireland and England following the fifth and final match of the series on June 19 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The squad proceeded to the neighboring west stand nets for net workouts after some fitness drills. Head coach Rahul Dravid was seen talking with pacer Avesh Khan, while bowling coach Paras Mhambrey was seen offering Venkatesh Iyer and Simarjeet Singh advice.
The next batsmen to face the bowlers were vice-captain Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and Dinesh Karthik. Shreyas began with batting against throw-downs, while Pant alternated between Avesh and Umran Malik, while Karthik faced Kuldeep Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi.
