Shahid Kapoor talks about how the success of Farzi helped him deal with the failure of his most recent movie, Jersey. He also talks about his 20 years in the industry and his motivations.
Shahid Kapoor has talked about the heartache that the box office failure of his 2021 film Jersey gave him. The film also stars Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur.
Shahid Kapoor is currently basking in the success of Farzi, his debut web series. In the Prime Video original, he plays a young man who decides to print phony money, forcing him to get entangled in crime. Shahid discussed how the success of the program has been therapeutic for him because he was struggling with a broken heart after the failure of Jersey. The film was frequently postponed because of Covid-19 before it was finally released last April, where it flopped at the box office.
My heart was broken to the core. It was a really beautiful movie, but I don’t think the universe was on our side. The songs were made available, and the film was postponed by four months. The universe wasn’t very gracious. I realized after watching Jersey that movies are like fast food. you have to consume them right away. If you wait, Uska mazaa chala jaata hai. We had never dealt with a pandemic before, so we had no idea how to react. Because of this, Shahid was “really, really delighted” with Farzi’s achievement, he stated. Regrettably, this caused the movie to deteriorate. “I think we didn’t treat the movie right, too. We might have made better decisions. I don’t know if there are some things that are just meant to be that way. Even when something is under your control, control isn’t always achievable.
As he basks in the widespread acclaim his web show is receiving, does he feel like he made the switch a little too late? He entered the scene, which was already crowded because several Bollywood celebrities had already moved to OTT. He immediately inquired as to whether any “film heroes” had ever gone overboard. “Accha, main late ho gaya yaar,” he retorted, mentioning actors like Saif Ali Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Ajay Devgn.
The actor will have been in the industry for 20 years in May, matching Ishq Vishk’s record. Shahid answered, “When asked about his experience and how he has evolved as an actor and a person, he said that it has been a fantastic learning curve. The fundamentals of who I am haven’t changed much, despite the fact that many things have. Simply said, I get the sense that the purity with which you started each project is fleeting. But one needs to hold fast to that in order to go on. I am always aware of that. Also, I believe it’s crucial to keep studying because doing so will enable you to advance and maintain the spark.
Together with Bhuvan Arora, Raashii Khanna, Kaykay Menon, and Vijay Sethupathi, Farzi was directed by Raj and DK.
