Saiyami Kher, who is preparing for the premiere of her forthcoming film ‘Ghoomer,’ recently shared the first look of the film on social media, where she can be seen sharing the frame with her ‘Breathe: Into the Shadows co-star Abhishek Bachchan.
In the film, Saiyami will portray a cricketer, while Abhishek will play her coach. In a statement, the actress expressed her delight, saying, “Growing up, I always imagined myself as a sportsperson because I have always liked sports and have been involved with them since I was a child. But as acting became a part of my life, I discovered that I enjoyed being in front of the camera and the many lives that each character I played onscreen presented.”
She went on to state that as an actor and a sports fan, she had always wanted to play a cricketer onscreen, “but somewhere deep down in my heart I also wanted to always play a cricketer onscreen and fulfill my dream of being a cricketer no matter, even if it was just for a role onscreen.”
And the film provided her with a platform to showcase her abilities. “‘Ghoomer’ provided me with the opportunity, and it’s like a dream project for me. It was an emotionally and physically demanding part, but one that I thoroughly liked. I don’t want to be limited and want to portray a variety of characters.”
Saiyami has also represented Maharashtra in cricket at the school level. The actress was selected for the national squad, but she chose to compete in the badminton state championships instead.
In addition, the actress will be seen in Tahira Kashyap’s next film ‘Sharmaji Ki Beti’ and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwary’s upcoming film ‘Faadu.’
