Three-Day Workshop on Keeping Ports Safe and Secure

A special workshop is happening from September 20th to September 22nd, 2023. It’s all about making sure our ports are safe and secure. The workshop is organized by the School of Integrated Coastal and Maritime Security Studies (SICMSS), along with Rashtriya Raksha University and the Indian Register of Shipping Class Academy.

The workshop started with an important speech by Dr. Prabhakaran Paleri, who used to lead the Indian Coast Guard. He talked about how keeping our ports secure is really important. Mr. Amit Bhatnagar, an expert in surveying, also spoke about the history of trade in India and why this workshop is helpful for people who work at ports.

Dr. Bimal N Patel, who is the head of Rashtriya Raksha University, spoke about some big issues like people moving to new places, rising sea levels, and old ports becoming museums instead of helping the economy. He said we need to take care of our ports because they’re important for trade between India and other countries.

This workshop is for people who work at ports, like security officers and captains. They will learn about things like how to keep ports safe, what to do in emergencies, and even how to protect against cyberattacks.

Some of the important topics they will discuss include dealing with pirates and thieves, stopping drug trafficking, making ports secure, and using technology to keep things safe.

This workshop will be a great learning experience for everyone involved in keeping our ports safe in the future.
