Johnny Depp’s defamation suit against his ex-wife, Amber Heard, was just dismissed. The six-week trial took place in Fairfax, Virginia, and Depp was awarded $50 million. Interestingly, some defamation trial spectators are now selling their paper wristbands on the internet. It’s selling for as much as Rs 3.8 lakh on eBay! For the uninitiated, Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard for defamation after she wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post in 2018 in which she described herself as a victim of domestic abuse. Despite the fact that she did not name Depp, his legal team had demanded a $50 million settlement.

At the highly publicized trial, sheriffs at the Fairfax County courthouse distributed wristbands as a crowd control technique. A sizable crowd had assembled to witness the event. Meanwhile, it’s worth noting that numerous persons who were admitted to the courthouse are now selling their disposable, color-coded paper wristbands with their date of admission stamped on them. It can be purchased for as much as $5,000 on auction sites like eBay (Rs 3.8 lakh).

“This is a piece of celebrity culture history,” wrote one seller, who reportedly set his wristband’s starting price at $4,999. He also added, “The bracelet has been cut so I could remove it from my wrist, you cannot reattach it without using glue or tape, however, I figure this would be better framed,” describing the condition of the wristband in detail.

Six people have already bid for a white wristband from day 16 of the trial. “Seller waited outside of the courthouse to snag a spot into the audience to watch the Depp v Heard trial live in person,” the seller reportedly wrote.
