Two Universities Team Up for Safer Communities: RRU and GIDM Collaborate on Disaster Management

Gandhinagar, Gujarat, October 13, 2023: Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) and the Gujarat Institute of Disaster Management (GIDM) have joined hands to make our communities safer when dealing with disasters. They signed an agreement on the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction. Dr. Shishir Kumar Gupta of RRU and Shri Ritesh Chaudhari of GIDM signed the deal in the presence of Major General Deepak Mehra (Retd.) and Shri Nisarg Dave.
This partnership means that RRU and GIDM are working together to get better at handling disasters, from getting ready for them to responding when they happen and helping communities recover. They will use their strengths to create a strong plan for dealing with disasters, which includes doing research, providing training, and involving the community.

As part of this agreement, RRU and GIDM will team up on different projects to improve how they deal with disasters. They will share what they know and learn together by doing research, offering training, and hosting workshops and meetings. They will also work together to find new ways to reduce the risk of disasters and make communities stronger.
Dr. Shishir Kumar Gupta said, “We’re excited to work with the Gujarat Institute of Disaster Management to make our disaster response even better. By combining our resources and knowledge, we can create a response system that helps not only our schools but also the people around us.”
Shri Ritesh Chaudhari is looking forward to the partnership, saying, “Teaming up with Rashtriya Raksha University will help us become better at managing disasters and making our society safer. We’re eager to work closely with RRU to reach our goals together.”

Major General Deepak Mehra (Retd.) talked about the importance of working together, saying, “Disasters don’t care about borders or who you are. This partnership between RRU and GIDM is a big step toward making our nation stronger when facing disasters.”
RRU and GIDM working together will make a big difference in how they handle disasters in Gujarat and beyond. They’re putting their strengths together to create a full plan for getting ready for disasters, and this will help the community, government, and others involved.
Also, SISPA at RRU, along with GIDM, has started a “Three (03) Month Hybrid Certificate Course on Disaster Risk Reduction and National Security.” This course will help people understand the challenges and strategies in disaster risk reduction and national security. It’s RRU and GIDM’s way of supporting education in these important fields and getting professionals ready to deal with the changing challenges of climate change.
