61st Inter House Annual Athletic Meet 2024-25: A Grand Celebration of Sportsmanship

A Grand Closing Ceremony at Sainik School Balachadi

October 13, 2024, brought a colourful end to the 61st Inter House Annual Athletic Meet at Sainik School Balachadi, Jamnagar. One of the most looked forward occasions of the academic year, the sports meet was no different this year. Students engaged in a range of track and field activities, displaying their physical prowess and team spirit, were alive in the school’s sports area.

Shri Kesridevsinh Jhala, an eminent Member of Parliament from Wankaner and Maharana Raj Saheb, graced the ceremony. Arriving with great excitement, Colonel Shreyash Mehta, the principal of the school, greeted him graciously. Cadet Bhavya delivered the school cap to the chief guest as customary, and then the School Captain, Cadet Harshit Rathore, gave a moving welcoming address.

Recognition for Excellence: Awarding the Champions

The athletic meet came to finish with medals and trophies given to the worthy cadets. Garuda House in the Senior category and Shastri House in the Sub Junior category won the most sought-after Championship Trophy. Though the competition was strong, the cadets from these houses performed brilliantly and won first honours. A unique event occurred in the Freshers category as VI-B and VI-C were proclaimed co-champions and both teams shared the trophy.

Among the individual accolades, Cadet Yuvraj of Tagore House took the same title in the Junior category and Cadet Abhay Raj of Garuda House shone brilliantly gaining the title of Best Athlete in the Senior category. Their commitment and diligence over the event paid dividends since they stood strong among their contemporaries.

Celebrating Sporting Talents Across Disciplines

Apart from the general champions, other cadets were acknowledged for their outstanding performance in several sports. The Best volleyball player was Cadet Rudra Chaudhary from Pratap House; the Best Basketball Player was Cadet Abhishek Kumar from Shivaji House. With Cadet Ankur Pateliya of Garuda House, Cadet Divyesh Yadav of Shivaji House, and Cadet Arpita of Ahilyabai House ranking as the top players in the U-17, U-14, and Girls divisions respectively, football also witnessed exceptional performance.

Cadet Kunal Kumar of Shivaji House showed his mettle on the hockey pitch and was named Best Hockey Player. Every one of these cadets made their homes proud not only by their ability but also by their love of the game.

A New Record in Javelin Throw

When Pratap House cadet Rudra Chaudhary shattered the long-standing record in the Javelin Throw, it was among the most exciting events of the evening. With an amazing throw of 34.43 meters, he exceeded Shivaji House’s previous record of 31.20 meters kept by Cadet Abhishek Kumar. Clearly one of the highlights of the meet, this new mark is evidence of Rudra’s tenacity and diligence.

The event’s closing ceremony was an amazing occasion full of vivid acts that astounded the attendees. The school’s band led a March Past, then the younger Balniketan kids performed aerobics, Garbus, and a PT exhibition. These shows demonstrated the school’s dedication to overall growth by skillfully combining discipline, culture, and athleticism.

The cadets’ brilliant Horse Riding exhibition, in which they displayed quick riding techniques and the art of Tent Pegging—a traditional sport requiring accuracy and control—was a particular highlight of the celebration. Seeing these young cadets gently and with such confidence handle horses delighted the viewers.

Inspired Words from the Chief Guest
