The ace batsman is unlikely to play in the forthcoming T20 series against Sri Lanka because he wants to recuperate and prepare for his 100th Test match, which will be contested in Mohali in the first week of March.
Virat has left the bio bubble in Kolkata this morning, according to a BCCI source, and will not be part of the team for the third T20.
In all likelihood, the Indian squad will conduct a variety of experiments in the third T20I against the Windies, including fielding players who have yet to appear in the series. As a result, the important cricketers would have already been rested.
Virat will now join the team in Mohali immediately ahead of the first Test against Sri Lanka.
