Wagh Bakri Tea Group, a household name in India’s tea industry for more than 133 years, once again proved its commitment to education and social welfare. In a heartwarming event held at the Wagh Bakri House in Ahmedabad, the group presented the Shri Paragbhai Desai Wagh Bakri Scholarship for the academic year 2024-25 to 25 bright and deserving students.
This scholarship was started in memory of the Late Shri Paragbhai Desai, who was a respected leader of the Wagh Bakri family and a visionary businessman. Launched in 2022-23, the initiative aims to provide financial support to students from economically weaker sections, helping them chase their dreams of higher education in fields like medicine, engineering, and paramedical sciences.
In just a few years, this noble initiative has impacted many lives. So far, the scholarship has supported over 200 students, with the total scholarship amount crossing Rs. 1.75 crore. For the current academic year alone, 177 students have received scholarships totaling Rs. 70.10 lakh. The event saw the gracious presence of the Wagh Bakri Tea Group’s senior leadership team, including Vice Chairman and Managing Director Raseshbhai Desai, Executive Director Paras Desai, Whole-time Director Priyam Desai, Director Vidisha Desai, CEO Sanjay Singal, and CHRO Nitin Naik. They handed over the scholarships to 25 students, making the occasion even more memorable for the recipients and their families.
