Kolkata, 9th October 2023: The Young Boys Club in Kolkata is celebrating its 54th year of Durga Puja with a unique theme – “Devi Durga – The Power of Universe.” This year, they have a special message to share with everyone: “The World is One Family.”
During Durga Puja, people create beautiful pandals (temporary temples) in West Bengal. The Young Boys Club always tries to pick themes that matter. This year, they want to remind us of the importance of unity in the world.
In Hindu mythology, Goddess Durga is a powerful and sacred figure. She has ten hands, each holding different weapons, symbolizing her strength and protection for her devotees. She safeguards her followers from all directions, and that’s why she has ten globes in her hands, showing how she protects the entire world.

Mr. Rakesh Singh, the Chief Organizer, explained, “Our theme this year shows Devi Durga as the source of global power. The 32-foot Durga idol outside our pandal will have ten globes in her hands, representing different aspects of the Earth.”
Inside the pandal, you’ll see intricate artwork made of junk. They’ve also created a model of Chandrayaan-3, celebrating India’s success in lunar exploration.
But there’s a deeper message here. The presence of the ten globes in Devi Durga’s hands teaches us that the world is like one big family, just like the Sanskrit phrase “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” suggests. This means we should care about everyone’s well-being, not just our own or our family’s. It encourages us to think about the welfare of others, work together, and solve global problems like climate change and peace.
