One of the highlights of the show is Zeenat Aman’s revelation about how she secured the iconic role of Rupa in Raj Kapoor’s Satyam Shivam Sundaram. Aman, an established star at the time, opened up about her audacious move during the shooting of ‘Vakil Babu.’
In her conversation with Karan Johar, Zeenat Aman shared the captivating story: “Raj Kapoor was immersed in the script of Rupa during the Vakil Babu shoot. His excitement and passion for the role intrigued me. Despite being a known face with a set image, I never thought he would consider casting me for such a role. One day, after shooting at Essel Studio, I went to RK Studios and told them to inform Raj Kapoor that ‘Rupa has come.'”
Aman continued, “When I entered, he was engrossed in reading. Later, he told Krishna Ji that I was already a huge star and didn’t need to audition. However, it was my passion for the role that convinced him. He shot an entire reel with his vision of Rupa on an old Nargis song, which, according to him, surpassed the entire film. This reel was then shown to distributors, proving that I could indeed be Rupa.”
Zeenat Aman’s bold move and Raj Kapoor’s visionary approach ultimately led to one of the most iconic roles in Bollywood history. As Koffee with Karan Season 8 promises more such revelations, fans can anticipate an engaging journey into the personal and professional lives of their favorite stars.
